[solved] avast 9 allows to complete installation without selecting any shield ?

avast v9.0.2009 beta 1

avast allow user to do a custom install but installer allows user to install without selecting any Shields.
see in posted images.

it this normal or glitch?

Should this perhaps be in the beta forum?

Well, you can… why not?

ok,
but there is no benifit.
this means that software is running without its CORE protection.
.
see my image i hav’nt select any component also and installation proceedes without any notification.

however if i unselect all language then it prompt user to select atleast one language.

the same behavinur sud be for shield category.

Default is to have them all checked, if someone wants to uncheck them all that is down to the user and seems a bit pointless?

My question is why uncheck them in the first place? ???

think about those novice people, they may uncheck them. And they will think that avast is protecting their pc.
however it is a rare case but it is happing.

i post this topic in think of a glitch.

this is also happening with v9.0.2008 not only beta.

Do you really think people are so stupid as to their understanding of the use of “checkmarks”?
I don’t! If a user sees a checkmark they will know something has been selected.
It’s called…common sense.

As far as users de-selecting protection, prove it. ???

On face value, it might be argued that if all of the shields are disabled then Avast becomes simply an “on demand” antivirus scanner, and so still has a legitimate use. As long as the default remains as it is, with them enabled, I can’t see a problem with that.

I dont know, but there are many PC users that arent tech savy and or rush through installations without checking things. I can name at least one regular on this forum that posts about every little thing.

thanks!
now i understand why they let user to unselect all shields.
(ON DEMAND SCANNER).

i think i got my answer.

Well if I’m following you and you’re not running ‘Real Time’ AV Protection, You’ll need the On Demand Scanner and likely the Virus Chest I imagine. ???

no, you take me wrong.
it was just a test nothing else.
i m running REAL TIME protection .

Ah, good.
