[SOLVED] Avast Free 5,1,889 + XP SP3 Problem

Hello.

I always had avast free in my computer with Win XP SP3 and never had a problem. Since last update for version 5.1889 my computer crashs after reboot.
I have already unistalled it by control panel, avast unistall tool, using safe mode… When unistalled, everything works fine, but after reinstall, it crashes again.

What do you suggest? Downgrade to an earlier version?

Zone Alarm firewall is installed and running.
I´ve been running Avast Free + Zone Alarm with no problems for years…

Ok… Seems the problem is that ZA is not allowing avast.setup correctly or is blocking any avast component. Maybe removing all avast entries from ZA and boot. On questions, allow full avast connection next time.

I did it, but did not work. I’ll try uninstalling ZA, then reinstall Avast and check.

Then I post the results here.

I had the same problem with v5.1.889 on XP. See my post about the problem here and how I installed a previous version to get around the problem until Avast is fixed.

1 - Removed Avast.
2 - Removed ZoneAlarm.
3 - Re-installed Avast Free 5.1.889
4 - Re-installed ZoneAlarm
5 - Problem solved
