[Solved]Avast virus definition popup

Hi,

just a small question. Recently the avast definition popup only sometimes shows me the virus definition number, just saying “that my virus definitions have been automatically updated”. Is there a reason for that or is it a bug? It’s really not a big problem, just want to know.

Thanks in adavance.

Hmmm, never heard of that problem before…

  • Which avast!..?? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…??
  • OS…?? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
  • Other security related software installed…??
  • Which AV did you use before avast!..??

Hi,

  • free antivirus version
  • 8.0.1483.73
  • win7 64
  • no other security software except windows defender
  • its a fresh windows installation, so no other av software was installed before
  • After the popup when i search again for updates it says “already up to date”

Thanks

See if that helps…

Repair avast!:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → avast!
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

Ok we will see if that helps. In the meantime i found a screenshot with the popup i’m getting without the current version number. It is an older version of avast, but its the one i get just with the new look of avast 8.

Thanks

Hi,

yes this is ok. Some of the popups are online and might contain slightly different information than the hardcoded. If you are still interested in the update number it can be found under Maintenance tab.

Martin

Thanks for the clarification Martin!
