… I read we MUST NOT use more than one AV. Avast won’t disable Windows Defender as some products do for others Windows native features, eg firewall.

Should we disable Windows Defender? Why Avast doesn’t do it for us?

Because on Vista WD is not a full grown AV (like in W8 and above). But I’d disable it anyway.

Sorry man, I even didn’t think it could have been OS/Avast release related: I was too much puzzled by nearly one week fighting to have Avast working

The one I have is the last install trial I did with avastsetuponline.exe : I thought it was the latest… or is 2016 a beta? In the lap time I saw the Avast web site was fully updated.

That’s why I don’t understand what you say. The point is that I’m afraid to break this install again. I feel I don’t want to read the whole mystery thread when no one even tried to reply to my own
