Hello,
as many of our customers still has no access to fast DSL, I suggested to install an avast! ADNM in our company on a neutral notebook and let them download all the mirror files. Then the ADNM on-site shall download its mirror-files from our notebook after installation. I think that will save us some time and our customers a lot of money.
So i tested this in our company, made the second mirror download its files from the first mirror and uninstalled the first one after that. Everything fine!
But now the mirror wants to get its updates from the ip of the first mirror and does not want to get it from the internet as I want him to.
Can somebody tell me, what and where I have to edit, that the mirror takes its updates from the internet?
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
you must edit \Program Files\Alwil Software\Management Tools\mirror\config\setup.ini
and change the second line:
ServerDefPriorities=mirror
you must put
ServerDefPriorities=main
Ihope this can help you
That did it. Thanks a lot!
VERY interesting!
I have the opposite problem, I’d like to make all my local mirrors to update from my central mirror so that only the central one goes on the internet and uses internet bandwidth and the others only impact on the central one and don’t go on the internet.
SO the question is: ok, I replace the line
ServerDefPriorities=main
with
ServerDefPriorities=mirror
BUT how do I tell the leaf mirrors the IP address / URL of my central mirror?
An already working example of this configuration would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi 10nico
This is something that we haven’t tested, but I think that it can work.
In the \Program Files\Alwil Software\Management Tools\mirror\config\setup.ini
You have to change:
ServerDefPriorities=mirror
FirstMirrorUrl=http://your_Main_AMS_IP_Adress:5033
Test and tell us… :
Thank you for your reply!
I’m testing it right now, I’ll let you know as soon as I have some data.
Thanks again
It doesn’t seem to work, I get this error now: (excerpt from “C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Management Tools\mirror\logs\mirror.log”

I’ve repeated the test three times and the result is always the same, it seems the leaf ams detects the main ams mirror as if it were broken…but it is not since all my clients do update ok from it.
What can I do/try?
Thank you in advance
I’ve just updated my master ADNM to the latest version and hope to see some improvement in the mirroring process.
I’ll let you know of any change.
Bye!
I’m glad to report that after the update there has not been any problem (so far!) in the replication of the leaf mirrors.
Thank you very much
