Like the title said, all commands work perfectly, but every sms I send shows up on the screen with the password.
So it’s kinda useless if the thief knows the pass I guess…
I have a rooted phone.
I’m using GOsms application to manage sms. Maybe it’s a problem with the app?
Maybe I have to use original message app? That would be
I have the same problem. Every command SMS is plain text including password.
are you using GoSMS?
yeah, I’m using GOsms. I figured it might be the problem? I’d hate it, if I’d have to restore to stock messaging
It’s an issue on GoSMS side unfortunately. We would love to solve it with them but we wrote them several emails already and as far as I know they didn’t answer to any of them
Filip
Yeah, I guessed it must be GOsms. They’re having issues with other anti-theft apps as well… :
Just one more question
Do you have any info whether it’ll work exclusively with stock messaging app, or can I use apps like HandcentSMS, or some other sms messaging app?
Otherwise, Avast! is THE best security and anti-theft app!! Keep it up
And thanx for reply-ing so fast.
As far as I know all other common messaging applications should be fine
Filip
Thanks for the Info! I now shwitched to HandcentSMS and it works perfect.
I will also try contacting GoSMS, and I think if enough Avast users do so as well, then maybe their dev team will be a bit more willing to do something about it. If the problem is what I think it is, then this should be a simple fix.
EDIT: Email sent. I encourage others to do the same.
Hi,
I’m using GoSMS and I don’t see this behavior. I just tried sending a LOCATE command to my phone and it worked perfectly. The location was sent to the other phone and my phone showed no indication of any SMS. Opening GoSMS I see no trace of it either. Maybe there is some GoSMS specific preference that causes the behavior you guys are reporting?
Interesting. What phone do you have? Is it rooted? Custom ROM? Also, what version of GoSMS?
SGS2 (interational), HyperDroid Androidmeda v5.2.21, HyperKernel v1.1. Go SMS 4.33 (latest I believe)
I’m using GoSMS v4.40 and DO get this problem with my SGS2 running ICS/4.0.3 (LP4/vodafone)
Texts show up complete with PIN.
I emailed GoSMS and have received ZERO RESPONSE.
In terms of config - I don’t use popups. stock messagign is disabled (through gosms configuration)
I tried going to
receive settings → disable other message notification - it was ENABLED. I switched to DISABLED.
I then went into stock (well samsung) messaging, went to settings, and ensured notifications was disabled.
I then sent myself a test message using avast
In this case what seems to happen is that GoSMS still pops up the notification which contains the PIN code – but the message list does not have it in.
I assume the regular SMS client is jumping in and masking that message based on it’s sms attributes (is it a sms flash message?)
Going to try handcent.
