Avast does not detect malware that is detected by Spybot-search and destroy, only after they are downloaded and cause damage. Spybot only this week detected a identity and password stealer. When I clicked ‘fix’ and after when in virus chest ‘delete’’ my password to the internet set in my router was cancelled, and also in my my mail program ‘Thunderbird’, which meant no email could be sent or received. And then had to get a new password from my internet server. Then I had to reset my router, and set up my mail program again. Surely it is not to much to ask that Avast uses the same data base that Spybot uses and stop these bots from being downloaded?
Avast is Virus protection. Not spyware protection, alot of threats will be detected by other programs and not by avast is because of this. Other programs also wont find things that avast will. They are both built to protect against different types of malicous files.
Hey and Welcome!
download malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.org), update it and scan the complete system to make sure that you don’t have any other malware. could save the logs from malwarebytes?
download SAS (Superantispyware) as well, update, scan the complete system.

Comparisons. the Free edition of avast states “Continuous protection against viruses and spyware” If your computer has spyware that reads all your keystrokes and passwords. I stand by my position that Avast Free is not protecting the computer against spyware. As far as I understand Spybot does not protect against the entry of spyware, but only checks to see if the computer has spyware in it. Yesterday running Spybot it found–Win32.Fraudl.oad malware C. Registry Key $E617 SBi.-- This was fixed by Spybot, but I have just finished checking with Spybot again, and it found exactly the same malware. Spybot does not protect against the entry of malware, and the ‘fixing’ did not remove the registry setting. So that every time the computer is booted, the spyware is activated.
Not true, it is protecting you. Even right now as you read this. It is, unfortunately, due to lack of signature/heuristic detection, not protecting you against this particular piece of spyware. I would follow Tenko’s suggestion to DL, update, and run Malwarebytes, a scanner/removal tool that has much better support than poor old Spybot.
I stand by my position that Avast Free is not protecting the computer against spyware. No security program have 100% detection. I am supprised that SpyBot detected anything at all, Malwarebytes have more updates in one week then SpyBot have in a year http://www.av-test.org/numbers_vendor.php?program=spybotsd&lang=en
to get almost 100% you need a security that has HIPS technology. Onlinearmor and comodo firewall provide that for free (I only know these two; zonealarm free firewall, pctools firewall and Sunbelt’s personal firewall do not provide that. Privatefirewall is maybe a firewall that has HIPS within).

Don’t leave out WinPatrol ;D
Even free HIPS cost something. Time.
WinPatrol is not a (traditional) HIPS, but a behavior scanner/blocker.
Why has my last reply not been printed
Yeah, HIPS’ brother-by-another-mother. The milkman’s son of the HIPS family. Close enough for me to group them together under one roof, but I see your point, they are Technically different.
That is a bit hard to answer, as I did never see it.
sorry Gargamel360 i forgot the cute WinPatrol.

To all whom gave me help.Thank you. But in view of the fact that my last submission was accepted and printed, as testified by my friends, but two hours later when I checked for any replies, my submission had mysteriously disappeared. And the moderator knows nothing, I will in future submit my queries to one of the independent forums
You can continue to submit your questions here. There was a glitch with the forum server while there was a definition updated and this may have caused a glitch in your submission error. I had a problem with a double posting, so please do not give up here as this was a temporary problem. We are here to help you. Please accept our apologies. Thank you.
There was no glitch. My submission was accepted and posted under this heading. I and my friends saw it.When I went to check back to see if if there were any replies, it had been removed. Perhaps the Israeli flag was not to someone’s taste?
so post it again and see what happens!
