[Solved] HOW TO stop Windows 10 from installing updates automatically?

Hello,

how is it possible to stop Windows from installing updates automatically? Which (within settings) have I to change?

Go to…Update and Security/Windows Update/Advanced Options and adjust your preferred settings there.

Sorry, but I couldn’t find things like that.

BTW: Why don’t you have no sig?

Why do I need a sig, waste of screen space

See pic, this is on Win 1809

Ok, thx. I just corrected my sig concerning my W10 laptop (see my sig). Don’t know exactly, but I think a update to your version (possible?) would be a upgrade, right? That I don’t want.

As I don’t want a mess, I succeeded in deactivating the updates via services until it’s calmer again.

You’re on 1803, I’m on 1809 which is the current stable version originally released 6 months ago, 1903 will be next months (May) version upgrade

Well, I don’t know much about W10 and my 1803 is the ‘Home’ version. Do you know, if 1809 will fit my system?

I cant see why not, if you’re running 1803 then there shouldn’t be any problem running 1809, it’s lighter faster and more secure than the prior version.

Do a manual update search to discover the “Feature Update” or you can download it from Microsoft.

I would prefer the second opportunity. Do you have a link for me, that fits a German os?

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 use the “Download tool now” tab.

I guess, before I upgrade, I better make a backup and look for a program (e.g. ‘tb_free 11.5’).

Thx, Craig, for your help.

After I’ve installed and run the backup program, I had 2 downloads finished (tool + W10 v1809). Install was no prob and without any issue.
For me a very useful experience with W10!
