(Solved) Question about C++ 2008 Redistributeable

I’ve got both x86 and x64 version 9.0.30729.4148. I’ve got x64 installed by another application before Avast and x86 from Avast installation.

Do I need to update to C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributeable (KB2467174) (Publish date: 4/21/2011)?

I’m pending this update because I don’t really like the update size and it seems there are problems involving this update with those using Vista x64 mentioned in this forum.

microsoft is realesing thoose uodates for a reason so i would recommend you to update. but just my thought on it.

I know that… What I need to know is about whether it’s safe or not to apply this update in Windows 7 without breaking Avast functions?

Yes, you can apply the update.

Thanks. That’s what I need to know. Applying the update now…

Is this right? I’m expecting the update should updating the old version into a new one.

Now, I’ve got 2 version of x64 (old/9.0.30729.4148 and the update/9.0.30729.5570) and 2 version of x86 (old/9.0.30729.4148 and the update/9.0.30729.5570).

It seems like side by side installation rather than update. A similar behavior like .NET installation.

You will have multiple versions of it on your machine…this is normal.

Alright. Thanks for the swift reply.
