[Solved]System Scans Always Stuck On A File

Okay whenever I do a scan, a default full system scan or a custom scan it always eventually gets stuck on a file and it wont go to the next file.
Its always different files and i’ve left it for hours and still hasnt done it.
I think it gets up to %16 and then it gets stuck, I dont know, I’ve only noticed it 2 times with %16 though.
BTW the run time still counts when its stuck.

I have avast! Free Antivirus
Version 7.0.1456
And I have Windows Vista

Thanks.

Not alot to go on there, file names where the scan is being stuck ??? is there any other security on the system ? previous AV installed and how it was removed ( did you use the vendors removal tool ) ?

Other than that all i could suggest is trying a repair and if that doesn’t work a clean install

WELL I havnt been keeping track but the file it it stuck at right now is C:\programdata\vistacodes\settings.ini

ok its working now but now it says there are rootkits… computers…

The file listed is the last file scanned ‘Prosessed file:’ not the one being scanned.

Oh well, hwo do you see the file thats currently being scanned?

Essentially you can’t, you only get a clue of where it was scanning last, possibly in the vistacodes folder.

well after i turned back on my computer after being shut down for the night it worked fine but thats when it detected rootkits, soo i guess this is solved?? Do you do that here??
