Hi Avast Product developers and techs. Im a new user of your product and I love it so far. I used Nortons 360 v5.1, Kaspersky, Vipre Premium, and BitDefender on all my test machines. This is a nice lightweight product with a clean polished interface and some nice features. Im not sure if im in the righr forum for this and if im not I apoligize and would like you to send me a link on where to go if im wrong. I was wondering in your beta 7 developments if a few little tweaks and features could be added to make this bar none superior among all the top names out there today. I believe truly all security suites by default should check for virus and product updates at start-up. Reason is a person could start pc and check a certain email in 2 minutes and shutdown, and not come on for 4 days and do it again so now you would be out of date by 4 days and be very vulnerable for a virus. See if Avast could update virus defintions at start up would be a great thing. Second if you could have the option on a custom full scan to shut down pc after a scan, instead of having to go through the scheduling process. This would make it easier and more user friendly. The Hips protection implemented in your program with these other two features would def. put you over the top. And always lighter resource usage is always a plus, which this seems very good so far, but having security suites in the 10-15 k range would be nice. Thank you kindly for your great product and top notch tech support. Looking forward to your reply and again I hope I posted this in the correct forum and if not please send me a direct link for future beta release forums and improvements. Good Karma!!! Jimbo77
I personally use Google Chrome for my daily web browsing, but please remove the Google Chrome installation. Even though I can do that manually by choosing customize installation, I still don’t want to see Google Chrome with the installation.
Avast already has everything you asked for but there will be no hip’s included as avast is taking the behavioural approach, for me while browsing and writing this post avast is only using about 5400 k which is alot better than your expected 10-15 Meg range limit you mentioned, i hope you meant 10-15 meg as you wrote 10-15 k and that is imposible :o
no no, i mean the quik/wizzard setting for different levels of security.
If a person wants more protection, he could quickly and easily do this.
No need to climb on the menu of each screen and each type of scan. One quick setup menu or wizzard can replace the need to login in more than 10 sub-menus!
Avast used to have this several years ago, a simple switch for “normal” or “high” which affected all the shields without going into each one.
I think it is a good idea at first, but most “housewives” and husbands who are not technical may be worried why is it not high protection already? Perhaps it is best to leave “as is” on auto unless the user knows exactly what he / she is doing to change?
Thank you Avast team… I did mean 15 megs so my bad. Its does check for updates and start up which I found and set accordinally. Hips would be a great addition to your great product, and even better sand-boxing protection in the virtual environment. Im not here to bash your product I use it and love it, but were here to help you also so take advice properly, and not cause cause hard feelings only improvements. Thank you kindly. Jimbo77
One other quick question. When will Avast 7 security suite be up for beta testing? Any ideas? Thank you and if you have a link to the beta testing forums please send me one. Have a great day!!!
They are shooting for a yearly release cycle, I believe. No official date or anything yet, though. Check for the beta around December-ish, that is the best guess I could give you.
