Some download files won't run

Hi,

I upgraded to avast 7 recently and after I got the fix on hung updates, I noticed that some not all files that I update to a newer version won’t run after the download. Anyone out there having this problem too?

Regards,

Can you give some examples of the files, file name, location, what these files are for and if you get any errors, etc. ?

One file was an update to Skype for windows 5.x as suggested by Secunia PSI 2.0 that I update. The program would download in Chrome but when I try to run it won’t. I tried to run the file as an administrator but still it won’t. I tried to downloading it again and still the same result.

Do you get any pop-ups, like run this in the sandbox recommendation ?

If so - Try setting the AutoSandbox to Ask (I assume it is on auto), this will allow you to select Run Normally and also check the Remember my answer for this program (effectively excluding it). To change to Ask, avastUI, Additional Protection, AutoSandbox, Settings.

Thanks for the reply, I tried running the update from the filehippo site and I got it updated, it must be a corrupted download file from the Skype website or I needed to download the setup file first before downloading the file.

Strange though, the website had no such prompt for the setup.

You’re welcome, the main thing is you have it running.
