Hi, I did a quick scan to see if I had any infections. None were found, but I got the message “Some files could not be scanned”
It seems it was from my “install flashplayer” download from the recent flashplayer update. I didn’t download from anywhere but the adobe site, which is weird. I’ll attach a screenshot
I’ve been a satisfied user & recommender of Avast for a long time, but recently I constantly get ‘some files could not be scanned’ (In my case this appears to be Adobe related)
I find this very disconcerting & it is now close to being a ‘deal breaker’.
I’ve installed the Windows AV as a trial and this gives a ‘clean’ scan like Avast used to.
I know maybe in the AV world this ‘some files could not be scanned’ report is desirable, but a layman like me just wants a clean’ No virus present’ type result at the end of a scan.
As this is a new phenomenon, can’t you PLEASE sort it out so we return to the simple clean bill of health results we always used to get at the end of a scan ( other than when a genuine virus was present.)
Thanks’ Max
It is normal to have some files that can not be scanned…but not all AV programs show this in the log, on some you need to enter advanced logging to see it
avast is just giving you a scan error report and the reason why
files that can not be scanned are just that, no more no less, it does not mean thay are infected
since this is adobe related i guess avast is saying “password protected” if files are located in a temp folder, it will be gone if you empty your temp folders…until next time
Thanks’ for the response. Removing temp files has no effect. I understand that this report shows ’ thoroughness’ on the Avast part, but I was happier before it got complicated like this.
Years of clean scans you know (other than the few that had a virus of course)
I find it so irritating that Im trying to operate without Adobe on my PC, but this is easier said than done.
Surely the brilliant minds at Avast can rectify this & let us return to ‘the old days’.

Well, in my case it was the password protected files associated with the Adobe Reader 11 installer that was the problem. Removed them from my PC (AND recycle bin), and , in my case anyway, problem solved. I also changed settings as suggested by ASYN. Thanks’ for the help forum members.
