Some pages in IE wont open

Hi, I’ve just installed Avast 4 and I can’t open certain pages in IE. This is a major problem for me as my banking doesn’t allow me to use other browsers. Why doens’t Avast allow me to load certain pages?

Jon

avast can’t block access as it is not a pop-up killer, a cookie manager, a firewall, etc.
It just scans the web traffic (HTTP). It does not scans the encripted (secure) traffic of banking (HTTPS).
Which is your operational system?
If you disable the WebShield provider, answer Yes to the question and boot, what do you get?

I’m using XP pro. I have turned off the webshield and restarted but nothing changes. I can’t event see the drop down menu on the avast homepage. Any ideas?

Well I’ve found out how to solve it but I think this is a major issue anyway. The issue also stops windows media player form working. But to solve it you need to do this

Start > Run regsvr32 jscript.dll > Ok

I don’t know why it does this but that is the answer

Hi levyuk,

This appears to be a Windows issue that is unrelated to avast!. See these links:
