Hi Avasters,
I keep getting these alerts that shields are turned off, I turn them on, it says “This computer is protected”, but 8 seconds later, the same shields report being turned off.
How to resolve the issue and turn on the shields and have them stay that way?
Why are these shields off in the first place and what is turning them off after my actions?
I’m using Avast Premium Security (Multi-Device) within the subscription period, so either there’s a problem with my Windows or there’s something wrong with the Antivirus, what could be the issue here?
Note that I have consulted the list of similar topics and the most recent one is from Nov 2015.
Thank you for your reply.
The shields that are turned off and keep on getting turned off are the Remote Access Shield, the Real Site Shield and the Web Shield.
I did not try a Repair App, but I tried Smart Scan, not sure why I should repair the app… If it gets that damaged, wouldn’t it actually tell me it is corrupted?
Thank you for the advise, I did Repair App and it seems that the shields are now up and running. The only remaining issue is the notification telling me that my private data has leaked from a Gmail address, dated as today, but the latest leak was discovered in January 2021, the password was changed at least twice since then, but I see this notification keeps on popping on (it was there along with the shields issue).
Any advice on this one? I changed the password even today…
You’re welcome.
I only use the Avast Antivirus Free version, so I don’t have the two additional (paid) components you mentioned.
I don’t know if the issue with the Leak test info is historic information that your data was leaked on the gmail email address. However, you appear to have taken reasonable precautions, but not knowing exactly what data may have been leaked from your gmail account, that is difficult to be 100% sure.
I also don’t know, if there is anything else that you could do not knowing what data was leaked.
As you have taken action, I don’t know if you can close that Notification in the Avast Notifications.
