You might not have set a password but programs do to protect their files/updates and this is what it seems to be a Steam archive file.

Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.

Many programs (usually security based ones) password protect their files for legitimate reasons, there are others (and avast doesn’t know the password or have any way of using it even if it did know it).

By examining 1) the file name, 2) reason given by avast! for not being able to scan the files, 3) the location of the files, you can get an idea of what program they relate to.

Whats Wrong?
Nothing is wrong, this happens to all AV, but all AV does not show it in the scan log

also see this https://blog.avast.com/2014/02/28/how-do-i-handle-files-that-avast-cant-scan/

WoW, cause it happened first time with me, & i use Avast sins 2007 or 2008, my first thought was, something is broken/bugged, this changes only if steam gives avats this passwords? or with Avast update?

  1. Nothing happens, steam wouldn’t give avast its passwords and even if it did avast the avast scan has no means to use them.

  2. Essentially, as has been mentioned an avast update wouldn’t change anything as there isn’t anything wrong with the files (not malware), it is just reporting files that couldn’t be scanned and why. Many AVs don’t do this, possibly because of why you posted ‘users think that something is wrong.’ Avast have taken the view that people should know the full results of the scan including files that couldn’t be scanned.

Many things change over time and now many programs protect their files/updates/anti-crack/hack data.

there is 1 thing i want to ask, i noticed under scan, scan for performance issues, is that function working or will it work only when u buy the function, i mean is it already in free ver? & also i would like to see video some1 starting it, to see what option there are & also what options there are after scan

also i would like to see video some1 starting it,
Maybe you find something here https://www.avast.com/faq.php?q=video&authenticity_token=TeZcSQkjpyeMKflB3OCiKVxb%2BUOUScA9I0x33a%2BxHZI%3D#searchForm

i think there isn’t video like this yet, i posted here hopping some1 would make, i have searched it, but youtube nor google find anything, i tried this in a few ways (avast 2016 free scan for performance issues function) & found nothing

You are getting off topic. This thread is about Not being Able to scan a file
and, that question has been answered.
