Something is going on and I need help!!!!!!!!!!!

So I started my computer up today and it started up rather sluggish. I tried opening Firefox and it wouldn’t open, tried IE same, I tried opening other programs and nothing. I have ZoneAlarm and ran a virus/spyware scan and no results. I tried scanning with Avast and it won’t open. I can get about everything to open except the actual scanning portion of Avast, the option “Start avast! Antivirus”, everything else will open in regards to avast.

What I’m wanting to do is set Avast up to do a boot scan, but the only way I know how to set that up is to do it on the scan panel which I can’t get to load up. I want to try getting all “my documents” off my computer and then I want to just reinstall windows. I just have so many files I need to get off the hard drive. I’ve tried connecting my external drive and a jumpdrive and neither one show up in my computer, my burning program won’t work either.

So is there another way to set avast to do a boot scan from somewhere other than the scan panel because I can’t access that portion of avast.

Thanks.

can you boot into safe mode and run the Avast scan from there?
do you have any other AV on your system or ever had- whichones?
do you have any anti malware or anti spyware apps
can you run them in safe mode and post logs?
Are you running ZA AV at boot time?
stay cool and let’s not start wiping things just yet
you tried starting avast by rt clicking the blue ball and scheduling boot time scan?
ah- what OS?
if the above does not work we can boot into safe mode and just start critical programs (depending on your os) like just avast without ZA and with the internet disconnected
Is windows defender installed somewhere?

I just thought about the starting in safe mode and running Avast. It’s scanning now and it found a Trojan, I deleted it, so hopefully the problem is over.

I was also able to set up for boot time scan too while in safe mode, so if this doesn’t work I’ll be back on here. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks so much wyrmrider I was really worrying there for a bit, I’ve been working on it almost all day and didn’t even think about safe mode until about 40 minutes ago. I guess this will teach me about backing up my files just in case. lol

do not delete stuff - move them to chest
any idea what it was?

try scans with Malware Bytes Anti malware free and their Rogue remover
post the log
With MBAM click REMOVE if any hits- a backup will be created

answer the question about two AV’s? does ZA AV start at boot time?
best to remove it
