Something is messin around my external drivers.....

I’ve started to encounter an window prompt which pops up suddenly that prompts me that there is no disks detected while I’m not even using it the external driver. Every time the window prompt pops up, the my diskette driver blinks. I’ve tried to scan all files and folders in the C:/ hard drive a few times since I suspected it’s a worm problem. However, avast couldn’t detect any single virus or worm.

Before hand, no such problem existed before since avast has been working fine all the time.

Is there anyone there that can help me to identify the virus? Or is it just the malfunction of my hardware?

Thanks in advance…

I don’t think it’s a hardware problem, it’s probably some backgound program touching the diskette for some reason. It might be tricky to find which one is that though…
If you’re able to operate File Monitor, I’d suggest to keep it running with filter defined to A:* and see what appears there (when the error pops up again, a few new lines should appear which might tell us the diskette access “source”).
