OK, So, not entirely sure what happened overnight to my system. Probably something failed in an update if it tried.
All I know now, is anything involving Downloads/Documents/Desktop aren’t readable (Through the Libraries). However, If I try to go through C:\Users\Michael\XXX that works. So there is hope for the few files on my system :).
I also know, all programs will NOT work (Hiren’s is a miracle Worker, because that’s how I’m posting). Any attempt to normal boot fails, and goes directly into a Windows 8 Install screen, except modified too look like it’s attempting to install OneDrive (Which I know have at least 4 if not more).
Unchecky was working though. The system was bootable at one point, but refuses to boot now, unless in Recovery mode through Hiren’s.
If you guys have suggestions, I’m open to it. This is far beyond my skill level.
Things to note as well. I have a Windows 8 Install Disc through Dell for the system. If that fails, I also have access to a Windows 7 Home Premium disc as well.
I’m testing the Hard Drive right now using Victoria off of Hiren’s. Will see how that goes.
Find below FRST and Addition. aswMBR and MBAM don’t want to work.
Can you boot from another hard disk of your system (swap e for c). If this is harddisk failure, the other harddisk may just work/boot and then you have to reconstruct your OS on that functioning error-free HD. It is an option to save you from total recall and loose your data.
The issue isn’t really it won’t boot. It’ll start, it’ll just hang on the window screen of WIndows 8.1 with No metro UI or desktop icons except for the recycle bin…
I’m almost wondering, is Windows corrupted?
I’ve PM’d Martin, see what he’s got too say. Sadly, I’m at school right now, so I have no access to the computer right now. I will certainly check it when I get home though.
That is a pity, but I guess essexboy could do some tricks with some tools from his “Hogwart Toolbox”.
It is always a sad moment when a comp you cared for gives up on you,
just like it is with pets you seem to always outlive an OS after some 6/8 years.
“Galbus, Galbat, Galdus, Galdat” Harry Potter would exclaim in such situations ;D
I keep my fingers crossed for you.
Worst comes to worse, I find out the drive if fried and I buy another one and reinstall Windows. I don’t think it’s caused by malware. the virussign files in the logs were all inactive.
Edit: When I left the house, there seemed to be some “In bad shape” areas. But the majority response time of my main directory was under 5MS. The worst being 600MS. (At last check)
Hardware trouble happens, it is as with glowing bulbs so many burning hours and shoooooz , especially after “heavy duty”.
All in the game, Michael, swallow and take your loss, now concentrate on what you wanna get as a new HD.
Did it go just like that or did you hear some odd “ticking” noise after start-up initially?
I still have an old HD from a former computer that survived all this time rebuild into a console as a remote hard disk drive
(spinning now for 12 years like a ballerina lyrics ;D), so it is also a question of luck.
Some parts like a burner just run their 1000/1500 burns and then give out, or you should have a professional burner.
Dust is also a mighty ruiner of computer parts, so cleanse that heat sink and check temps.
Sometimes the start button of a computer breaks and needs to be glued anew.
I just had a graphical card re-toasted and it survived initial disfunctioning.
The only one I am aware of is Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow.
Wasn’t this what we saw initially in your report: % WinDir %\System32\Dllcache.
There is where the scan results go. Also look here CB’s.Logbook % WinDir %\Logs\cbs\cbs.log.
