Something unexpected went wrong with this URL

I have had Avast Secure Browser as my default browser for a long time. Suddenly, I now have an issue when clicking a link in Outlook – I get a message “something unexpected went wrong with this URL. Access is denied”. The links will work when I use IE or Google Chrome as my default browser but will no longer work with Avast Secure Browser.

I have tried switching my default browser to IE and back to Avast Secure Browser but it did not help.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to fix this? I am using Window’s 8.1.

Hi,

It seems that Outlook no longer recognises ASB.
Restart your device (it could be a temporal issue)
You can also try to repair outlook or uninstall and re-install ASB.

I had previously tried rebooting my computer and it didn’t work. So I uninstalled and re-installed Avast Secure Browser today and it worked.
