Hello.

When you open malicious url (Malware example blocked by avast: http://pastebin.com/cuGbihHu malware type is rogue software )

Avast says that “URL-MAL” was blocked but still allows me to download that infected file (when i click save or download) and then it gets saved on your computer and you need to run it to get blocked again wtf?
Is this normal ? Why avast lets you download file after its web shield blocked it ?

Webshield should completely block that file and NOT let it download .

avast! 8.0.1482 Internet Security

Win 7 64 bit Ultimate

No other security solutions.

I was able to click on the site and download the file. Avast didn’t react at all for me.

Yes it blocked it ok. But did avast let you download it ? I have chrome and i was able to download file with Internet download manager after avast blocked it :o

I just tested on other browsers I have, IE9, Firefox. Network Shield did the job as before! No file to download.

Edit: Just tested in Chrome, same react. :slight_smile:

OK this seems to be a interesting issue even 1 or 2 people on Youtube tests and even on wilders forum have reported the same issue…is the OS XP or win8??

Btw, I didnt get the URL correctly blocked on my own system :o

EDIT: Disabled the shields until next system reboot and ran a repair and rebooted and it appears to block it correctly now. :slight_smile:

Okay, all I did was download the text file. I didn’t try the link contained in the text file.

I did CLEAN install of avast! 8 Internet Security and now avast blocks it perfectly. I’m not able to download malware after avast blocked it which is good .
