Something went wrong and the update failed...again! I can't remember what I had to do the last 3 times to fix this. Tried repair, didn't help

My renewal is coming up this month and I don’t want to have to keep dealing with this virus definition problem over & over again! Repaired and restarted multiple times…no joy.

Yes, I am having the exact same issue, is this a bug?

If it’s a feature, I’m not happy about it. They had a workaround last year that involved a special way of updating while they fixed it but I can’t find the old posts. Hopefully someone will remember.

yes, have the same problem today, no virus definition updates possible. got this the second time now. at first time i fixed it with a new program update, maybe have to wait, my avast program version is 3 weeks old

Same problem. Update failed please try again. Very frustrating. Hopefully a fix soon?

same problem here

Yup, have the same issue!

i activated debug-reporting (in settings/Troubleshooting), maybe they get an error report

Same problem here…what is going on???

Hello AVAST? please can you fix this issue… thank you.

Same for me. Since three days.

Only one of my computers has this issue. The one with Windows 10. All of my Windows 7 computers update normally.

I don’t think I am going to renew my subscription if this is not fixed immediately, I do not like paying and being at risk!!
This has been going on for over a week…..Fix it now or lose customers AVAST!!!

no error this morning, no program update, but the virus definition update from today is working.

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member.

You aren’t entirely unprotected.
Have you checked that the Streaming Updates are working.
They work outside of the regular Defs Updates and you don’t have do that manually, they keep the VPS updates very recent.

I have been having this same problem for a week or so, before that never had a problem in two years!

I haven’t been able to update the virus database for four days.
It’s a shame because I pay a subscription and I’m not protected.
You’re quick and aggressive in offering ads and ever-more expensive subscriptions, but there’s no one left to provide basic service. Unacceptable.

As per my previous post.

You should still be covered by the Avast Streaming updates which should keep your virus definitions up to date.

Check the C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs sub folder and streaming updates in particular.

The latest in mine is C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\defs\25101006_stream
