something went wrong with avast (please check)

hi,
recently i had to restore some files using system restore, however, it failed, then, i checked avast, it says that “You are unprotected”, i clicked to extend the window, it told me that “Avast background service is not running”, there are 2 buttons , “Start now” and “Resolve all”, i clicked them both, nothing happens, just nothing…
tried to uninstall it from programs and features from control panel, nothing happened, nothing…
please help me…

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

that’s what i’m trying tell you, i have win 10 so ye, when i click on avast icon in programs and features, there are only uninstall and change, i click them both, none works, none…

  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

1- free
2- 10.3.63353

  • no except windows defender of win 10 (i turn it off)
  • N/A, only avast

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
