I installed Avast Passwords. It was working fine. However it keeps turning itself off. I have the Avast Key Icon on my menu board. It lights up Orange and is working. Then it turns black. I click on it and it tells me that “The Extension is not activated please activate it first”.
Well it was working. How can it not be activated?
So in any case How do it activate it?
Please help. My password auto fill was working just fine before I decided to use Avast. Now it is very frustrating.
We are actually testing fix of the issue, please be patient, as fix is unfortunately part of bigger change. I expect we release fixed version during next week.
Well out of the blue it started working. I have no idea what happened. I got some sort of pop up message to activate and clicked it. Now it is working. I have to say it is a tad slow. Happy it is working now though.,
OK. Well we are forced by Mozilla to change extension format to something they call webextension which causes troubles for users using old version of Firefox. There is no way we can ensure backward compatibility so current public extension can’t be installed on such old Firefox with exactly same message you have mentioned. As download fails then once you have older extension in older Firefox it just won’t update and you will miss e.g. support for Credit cards we have just released in 17.7 version of avast for instance. You may also miss lot of security fixes Mozilla put in newer releases so I recommend update Firefox to latest version anyway.
