Sorry for this unsuited question :

My cd-rom drive can’t read the “open” cd-r’s (that can write on them more data - not closed) but only the “closed” cd-r. Everything else doing o.k. : read blank cd-r or audio cd or dvd and has no burning problems. When trying to read an open cd-r, something obstruct it making a sound like klak klak klak…
Can someone help me?

Maybe the cd is damaged?

No, because the cd-r are readable to all the other pc’s that i tested.

something obstruct it making a sound like klak klak klak..

Is your cd drive damage?

or the cd drive doesnt support the cd your using?

I have heard the klak klak sound before and this happen when my cd-drive doesnt support the cd

I’m not sure if my drive is damaged but as i said before everything else doing o.k. I’m almost sure that isn’t problem the type of cd-r. Everything else works fine with this type or mark of cd’s.

can't read the "open"

Oh sorry i just understand whats your problem.

Have your tried other cd?

Yes, two other types, but the problem remains. The problem started in only 1-2 of the cd’s that i had but now to ALL the “open” cd’s. It’s possible that some “bad” cd’s can damage the drive?

It's possible that some "bad" cd's can damage the drive?

I think… yes because my cd drive was damaged all because of some D*** bad cd.

AGHRRRR!! I think this have happened. Some bad or damaged or not properly written cd’s that i had made the damage.
Can i do something to repair it?

I’m not sure with this but I had bought a new(few months ago) cd-drive that use USB to work and it is cheaper than replace the cd-drive.

It could happen, but, really, it’s not that common. The most common is that bad and damage CD do nothing with the drive itself. Sorry, I can’t figure out why some open CDs can’t be read ???

Thank you Rassel for your time and attention and of course you Tech !

You’re welcome. Sorry me to not being able to further help and troubleshooting this properly… really it’s difficult to imagine what is really happening.
