I re-installed Avast8 yesterday because of some computer problems unrelated to Avast. However, I discovered that my own sound files were gone and I find no way to re-install them. I’ve tried with SPG Scott’s suggestions on this page:
but they simply doesn’t work for me. The zip-file doesn’t turn into an Avast file and when I double-click on it, no installing suggestions come up, just an option to extract the files. I have no idea what to do with it.
Is there anyone who knows how to solve this. No big matter actually, I can live without my soundfiles. But I miss them.
^^
Yes, I have. But nothing happens. It’s like the zip-extension still is there. The zip-file doesn’t turn into an Avast file as in the link I posted and Avast don’t discover it.
I have Windows XP 32-bit and Avast 8 (Pro version)
I thought I have solved this when I got 7-zip. I used that program to create a zipped file, changed the name to avastsounds instead of zip (this time it was possible) and the file turned into an Avastfile, just as it should.
But when I double click on the fle and answer “yes” to the question if I want to install it, then I get the reply that “the file is not compressed”.
And I’ve tried with the “ultra” compression too. :-[
