source for downloads

I recently downloaded ImgBurn from the creators website and was disappointed to find that there was additional software bundled with it. When I installed it, I was not given an opportunity to decline the additional software.

Is there a reliable source for unbundled software?

That is usually the creators website

Unfortunately, the installer from the official website nowadays comes bundled with crap.
If you run the installer and it doesn’t give you the choice what to install (or what not) there is nothing you can do about it.

What you can do is download a old(er) version that doesn’t have the crap bundled and use that.

or (and I very strongly advise against it), get and run the latest installer.
Use it and remove all crap when the install is finished.

Unfortunately over the years more and more software developers that started with providing real (clean) freeware have gotten dollar signs in their eyes >:(
They think/act like this :
He look!
Many people are downloading and using my free software.
I think I can money with it.
Let me gonna ask people to pay for it.
Hmm, nope people are not wanna pay for it and/or I’m not making as money as I thought.
Ok, let’s see…
Oh wait, I know something…
Let me bundle my software with other things so the other software developers are giving me money for it.
Dang, I will get rich this way.

I’ve started programming in 1982 simply because there was almost no specific software that could certain things available.
Every thing (mostly tools), I’ve programmed where, still are and always will be free and come without anything bundled.

Thanks for the advice, Eddy.
