Hey so it seems many people had the issue of Avast suddenly not working this morning. I also see there is a fix and that’s great.
However, I was wondering if anyone knew why it happened at all?
I’d like to know because everyone in else in my house sucks at internet and will inevitably get me infected if it happens while I’m away for more than a day.
What fix ?
I’m not aware of any fix released today.

I suggest to download the latest full update package from here and apply it. The "Fix" button should work then
I used that link which did update the definitions but the program still does not work at all. Will not run; will not scan; fix button does not work.
When I try to start a scan I get this message:
Unable to scan. There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper.
I can’t use my computer with no protection. Unless this is resolved quickly I will have to dump Avast.
What version are you using ?
Lets reinstall Avast
Download aswClear to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast

Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel
[*]Boot to Safe Mode.
[*] Restart the computer.
[*] As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
[*] Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode with Networking menu item
[*] Press Enter.
[*]Run aswClear
[*]In the Select Product to Uninstall dropdown choose the version of Avast that is on your system.

[*]Once complete reboot your system to Normal Mode

Ahh, I see, not a fix as we would know it, the downloading of an actual fix to apply, but the internal avast fix function.
Saying that, I had the very same problem when I came home today at around 2pm, Avast was not working what so ever, ran Aswclear and reinstalled, seems to be working fine.
Finally! I used the update link for the fourth time and then rebooted. After the reboot Avast was working normally. I had tried the update link 3 times with no results. The download did take but it didn’t fix anything. For some strange reason the fourth time it worked.
