i have a delay at boot up with sp2 on my desktop and it looks like it is with avast. i do not have this problem with my laptop. security centre is disabled on both machines . saw the last posts about this from april of last year, has anything changed since then. i dont see any difference between my desktop and laptop, any ideas?

Every system is different. (videocard, soundcard, motherboard and such). Therefor when booting every system is loading different drivers. Besides this, most systems do not have the same applications loading at boottime. All this can cause a (slight) delay in the booting process. For many people ‘startup delayer’ solved the problem.

You say it looks like avast! what makes you say that?
Is the XP SP2 a recent update, because there have ben a number of slowdown issues with SP2?
Or is it a recent update of avast?
