Why is Avast not killing any of my spam? I use Windows Live.
Where windows live does kill spam on my desktop. All of the spam is being forwarded to my phone. Incredilbe 2.
I thought Avast would have stopped this. I have 7.1.1407. it’s a paid version.
how do you read your mail…using a mail client like outlook /outlook express/thunderbird
or do you logg in using your browser ?
avast can only remove spam if you use a mail client and your mail account is sett up as POP3 or IMAP
if you have a windows live/hotmail account and logg in using your browser…there is a “spam” button at the top
use it to mark post as spam to train the filter
OBS: and latest avast version is 7.0.1426
I don’t see a spam button on Windows live. Just a junk mail folder.
strange…as i have it both in windows live mail client and windows webmail
see attached screen shots Søppelpost = spampost
Yahoo Mail has the same “Spam” button for the same purpose. There’s also a “Not spam” button in its Spam folder to cover the opposite function, when Yahoo’s filters have incorrectly filtered something that should have gone to your inbox.
Yahoo isn’t my primary addy (I use my ISP’s POP for that), so almost anything incoming is spam and is properly handled accordingly. Once in a blue moon I’ll get something in my inbox that got around the filter, but usually in such a case the content is “borderline” and Yahoo is more lenient in its definition than I am.
Sorry it took so long to answer… working a lot.

This is the heading for me Windows live.
Maybe you can see something I don’t.
Thanks!
yes…it is the BIG RED junk button
and when you are inside the junk folder, there should be a “this is not junk” button if you find mail that is wrongly classified as junk
so you use these buttons to train the filter
Yes, I have a lot of junk mail. On my desktop, it is eliminated.
But all the junk mail still reaches my smart phone. It’s not blocked at all. So it’s not being trained.
Thanks for all the help. I guess it’s a windows problem and not AVAST.
