hi
can i use Spamihilator & avast4.1 in w2k??
not avast is setting automacly…
how can i use them togheter?
Avast is currently version 4.5.549, there is no need to use a older version. If needed you can use the “autoredirect” option in avast4.ini.
Avast/SpamHilator/2k shouldn’t give any problems.
There are some threads about Spamhilator, use the search option on this board to find them. I’m pretty sure one (or more) of them explains how to set it up.
“autoredirect” what is it?
There is a search option on this board, you know…

You should setup everything as if Avast! is not installed (according to Spamihilator help files)
-
make yourself sure, that spamihilator is really running on port 120 (Settings / Connection in Spamihilator)
-
in Outlook Express account
server: 127.0.0.1
port: 120
username: mail.anyserver.com&anyuser -
For the “POP3 notifier” use:
username: username
server: mail.anyserver.com
port: 110
and avast mail will work?
Sure… Why not?
What are you asking exactly…?
Please, write a little bit more and earn the help 8)
Well I think mantra is using Win9x so this won’t work for him…
So, he does not have to change any previous setting from version 4.1…
See: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=9;action=display;threadid=3413
no no i’m using w2k
Hello mantra
Which port number is Spamihilator using ?
Iso-G
Iso-G, I think it does not matter here…
Mantra, please, see the thread I posted the link before.

i use w2k!
help me
i would like to protect only one account from spam!
i setup spamilator at 120 port
and my account at port 120
but it doesn’t work
Sorry, Technical.
I was confused.
Hello, mantra
I think this Tchnical’s setting work fine on win2000.
I am using POPFile and some e-mail clients with avast! 4.5 on Win XP SP2.
Those work fine together without any change of avast4.ini.
This, “You should setup everything as if Avast! is not installed (according to Spamihilator help files)”, is very important.
And my [MailScanner] section of avast4.ini is :
ShowTrayIcon=1
StartSmtp=1
StartPop=1
StartImap=1
I think it is default setting. Please make sure of yours.
By the way, do you have a mail client receiving web based emails via a proxy server like HotmailPoper ?
If so, I think you have to modify the [MailScanner] section of avast4.ini.

What about now? Is it working? You do not post the results back…
Sorry me… I was rude.
You’re right, if the port number is different, you won’t get both programs working togheter.
