spamming virus not detected

I’ve got a virus which make my PC a spamming base. When I close my browser the window doesn’t close immediately and during this seconds of “stand-by” I can see some traffic is flowing on my internet connection. The windows closes only when it has been downloaded a file whose name is usually xyznm.exe where the first part is four-five digit number. (These files are saved in document and setting\username\localsettings\temp\ )After this the exe file execute himself (I can see the same name in processes displayed in task manager). Usually this ends quite soon without anything happening, creating a .temp file, but sometimes it starts mailing messages with typical spamming object. I can see AVAST scanning this output messegges.

I tried several time to clean the PC scanning but AVAST doesn’t detect any virus. What can I do?

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe

[*]Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
[*]Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
[*]By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
[*]Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
[*]Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
[*]Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
[*]At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
[*]Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
[*]Click on “Edit > Select All” then click on “Edit > Copy” to copy the entire contents of the log.
[*]Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
[*]DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

What is your firewall ?
It should be capable of blocking unauthorised outbound Internet Connections.

If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode.

AVG anti-spyware (formerly Ewido). Or SUPERantispyware. Or Spyware Terminator

These are anti-spyware that are more likely to detect the possible trojan spambot, etc. on your system.

The HiJackThis is a good analysis tool to show what is running on your system.

then it fixed two malware and some cookies. After it seems that the PC works correctly: the browser’s window closes quickly and no unexpected outgoing internet traffic appears.

Hi fampoggi yep it was just that one stray line you are clean now

Now to get you off to a good start we will re-set your restore points so that all the bad stuff is gone for good. Then if you need to restore at some stage you will be clean. There are several ways to reset your your restore point but this is my method:

Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore.
On the dialogue box that appears select Create a Restore Point
Click NEXT
Enter a name e.g. Clean
Click CREATE

You now have a clean restore point, to get rid of the bad ones:

Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > Disk Cleanup.
In the Drop down box that appears select your main drive e.g. C
Click OK
The System will do some calculation and the display a dialogue box with TABS
Select the More Options Tab.
At the bottom will be a system restore box with a CLEANUP button click this
Accept the Warning and select OK again, the program will close and you are done

To be sure, you can test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest AVG, Panda and/or F-Secure BlackLight.

Also, if you still detecting strange behaviors, scan and submit to on-line analysis the RunScanner log would help to identify the problem and the solution.

After you’re clean, use the immunization of SpywareBlaster or, which is better, the Windows Advanced Care features of spyware/adware cleaning and removal.

Finally, when you’re clean, check for insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector to update insecure applications and avoid reinfection.
