Splasch screen every 10 sec

Hello,

I use Avast since Two days. In every application, each ten secondes, appears a very fast Avast splash screen.
It is very fast but very irritating !!
What can I do to remove it ?
???

bookick,

Let me understand this…
You are saying that the Spalsh Screen pops up every 10 seconds and goes away for 10 seconds. Right?

First, try a repair of Avast as this is not proper behavior.
Go into Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add-Remove and “double” click on Avast. (You can also “highlight” Avast then click the add/remove button. However, this makes users nervous but it opens the same window.)
A window will open with options for Avast. Pick Repair.
Reboot computer and try again.

Good luck.

This sounds familiar. I don’t think this is problem with avast. I think it’s just a setting that shows a popup whenever a file is scanned by avast’s on-access scanner.

Right-click on the avast icon in the system tray and go to On-Access Protection Control > Standard Shield > Customize > Advanced & uncheck the setting “Show detailed info on performed action.” Then, OK your way out of the settings & your problem should be fixed.

bookick, can you post a screenshot of what you call a “splash screen”?

Thanks.

Hi,
This is reply to Amerk 5,
I’ve done what you said, but the “Show detailed info on performed action.” was already uncheck. So it did’nt solved my problem. >:(

thanks for the idea

Hi,

This is a reply to Vlk
I cannot take screenshot of the splash file, becoz it is really to quick. I can see it but I have no time to take the screenshot if it.

It looks approximatively like that : (but maybe a little different)

Uh didn’t worked , it try to put the splashscreen again (it’s like the one on the top of this page)

bookick, do you have avast! Home or Pro?
What e-mail client and what web browser do you use?

I think he’s getting Script Blocker splash screen…

This is a reply to Techie 101,

I’ve repaired Avast and rebooted my computer, It seems now that the splash screen is gone. But I need to use Firefox a little longer to ber sure.

Thanks

That one is for Igor,

I use Outlook 2003, Firefox 0.9 and Avast Pro 4.1.418.
It could also be the Script Blocker splash screen, but I thought that Firefox wasn’t supported…

Bye

Well, there are 2 possibilies: either it’s the Script Blocker splash, or the Outlook plugin splash. Try to disable the splash options in the respective providers and see if it helps.
(Buf of course, it’s strange in any case. The splash window certainly shouldn’t be displayed “every 10 seconds”).

Do you happen to use an Outlook synchronization software? Like ActiveSync for synchronizing data between a PDA and Outlook?

Thanks.

bookick,

Let us know how you make out. As far as Firefox goes, some users have successfully configured it to work well with Avast.

Yes, it could be the script blocker but I really don’t believe so. If it was, it would remain a bit longer not pop in and out.

Not sure about the synchronization issue brought up by VLK. His knowledge far exceeds mine in the really technical design issues.

From you described, it sounded to me that Avast wanted to start but was interupted during the initial loading of the exe file. You may have set it to run a scan on bootup, but could not due to some corruption. It seemed to have locked itself into an error loop.

Anyway, we will all try to help you fix it as usual.

Hello,

This is reply to VLK. Yes I synchronize Outlook via ActiveSync with my SPV200 mobile phone, nearly all the time.
I think that myu problem has desapeard now, after I did a repair of Avast !

Thanks for everythings guys ! ;D

I was asking because such synchronization software often launches Outlook engine in the background (even periodically - not really efficient but it does happen). That would explain the splash screen - the sync software is effectively executing Outlook.exe every 10 seconds…

YEs, VLK you are right, I use also DESKLOOK wich transfers data from outlook to my desktop. It is configure to search for data every 20 sc, it must be that prog who launch the splash screen.

Well done !

Disabling the splash screen of the Outlook/Exchange provider in avast should do the trick then.

I’m glad it’s no mystery after all.

Good night (it’s almost midnight here)
Vlk
