What version of avast are you using?
dbs.createobject error
First check out this avast! FAQ answer http://www.avast.com/eng/other_questions.html#idt_1406. For avast! Pro users it is best to update the ODBC Drivers, Home users can switch to XML storage.
Right click the avast! icon and select Program Settings, then Trobleshooting and tick the Use XML storage instead of ODBC.
I use avast 4 home ver. 4.6.691 Serbian. I used McAfee antivirus (Uninstalled). I try to open cofiguration of avast but he can’t run, the window does not appear.
If you encounter this error while starting avast! antivirus:
Error: dbsCreatObject
Or, if you are using the latest version (4.6.691), just right click the avast tray icon, select Program Settings, switch to the Troubleshooting page and check the “Use XML Storage” box.
You may try to open the \data\avast4.ini file and in the [Common] section, change the item Database=ODBC to Database=XML. This could prevent the Microsoft Jet drivers from accessing the database… does it have any (positive) effect?
