Spybot Search & Destroy

It was suggested I use Spybot Search & Destroy today as a few of my email addresses are being hacked.

It is the first time i have used Spybot and i have posted the scan results as i am not quite sure what to make of them. It is saying i have a few threat level 5’s.

One of them being Facebook Messenger. Now i know there are fake versions of FBM out there, but i downloaded this one from Facebook website so not sure why it is coming up.

Yes, i have also posted this in their forum, but seeing as i am a long term Avast IS user and trust people’s opinions on this forum i would like to hear what Avast users make of the results. Screenshot attached.

Drop SB and be happy.

This is what we think about that program

Hmmm interesting! I am confused as to why it is alerting me to a Registry Change i.e. iexplore.exe (is not)

What does the (is not) part mean? Is it trying to tell me it’s fake? I don’t get it!

See: Reply #1 and #2…!!! Nothing more to add here.

LOL ok ;D

It’s weird because both AVAST and MBAM showed nothing! SAS just came up with a few harmless tracking cookies. Yet Spybot is now telling me i have rootkits.

Yeah beginning to think it’s BS!

From your first image it is making a very big deal out of nothing these are PUPs, Potentially Unwanted Program/s. No idea what their PUPSC is presumable Potentially Unwanted Program SeCurity.

Using facebook I believe can be a risk, but to call the installation folders, etc. as a level 5 risk is a bloody joke.

I wouldn’t even bother having SAS even look for tracking cookies, another over blown waste of time, don’t allow third party cookies in your browser settings. You could go further and only allow session cookies and or delete cookies on closing the browser.

I have since uninstalled Spybot S&D after it told me that a IE9 favourite I pinned to my taskbar was a threat. That favourite was outlook webmail. Waste of time.
