does spybot still worth it and how is the detection rate against malwarebyte or superantispyware

then forget SS&D, it’s been out for a while now 
Spybot is Old School. In recent online tests, it does not stand up to the two scanners you list. There are users who like the Tea Timer in Spybot as a guard in real-time protection, though. I personally only depend on the anti-spyware that is included in Avast free. I routinely use the two scanners you list every couple of weeks or when I notice a system slow down.

They put out updates maybe once per month.
true, if I remember correctly, haven’t used SS&D for a while, updates are rare…may be once a month or something like that…another issue I remember is when an update was available, you had to retry and wait and retry again…SS&D server was most of the time overloaded and really slow…and update failed to download. There has been some improvement to that, but not enough to justify the use of the software which is basically meant to take care of IE cookies browser helpers and toolbars ;D

I tried it seem good but the paying version give you the protection and the free only allows you to remove malwares detected in the scan
