Spyware detection

I have just installed Avast Home Edition having used the paid version of Zone Alarm for a number years. My problem is checking for ‘spyware’. When using Zone alarm or Spybot the computer system would be scanned and any spyware found would be flagged up. Zone Alarm would automaticly delete spyware and Spybot would need a prompt.
However I cannot find how to instigate a spyware check with the Home edition.

Have I got it totally wrong with ‘spyware’ checking with Avast or can someone point me in the right direction please?

The anti-spyware function is fully integrated into the avast scan, so there is no need to do a separate scan for spyware.

However, is there anyway of ‘seeing’ what spyware has been detected?

Any detection will cause avast to alert, be that virus or spyware.
