I have a spyware program that i have on here to protect my kids from preditors. How ever avast will not let it run. Is there a way to get avast to over look a certian program like other anti spyware programs… Ex. ZONELABS.
What is avast saying it is, e.g. why is it detecting it ?
Is it some form of keylogger ?
What is the malware name, suspect file name, where is it located e.g. (C:\windows\system32\suspect-file-name.xxx) ?
You can exclude files from being scanned but you should only do this if you are absolutely sure they present no risk.
Add it to the exclusions lists (Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced and Program Settings, Exclusions).
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner Or Jotti - Multi engine on-line virus scanner if any other scanners here detect them it is less likely to be a false positive. You can’t do this with the file in the chest, you will need to move it out.
Use the two Exclusion lists:
For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…
For the other providers (on-demand scanning such as the screen-saver or the Simple User Interface):
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button…
You can use wildcards like * and ?.
But be carefull, you should ‘exclude’ that many files that let your system in danger.
Oh, parental control could be better achieved with a filter:

I run SpyAntimePC Spy to record my own screenshots and keystrokes and this puts a keylogging file in C:\windows\system32 called KEYBHOOK.DLL which must be added to the exclusions list or will be tagged as a virus. You must know which files are placed where and exclude them all. Also, in Resident Shield\Customize\ set scanning to visible to see what is being trapped.
