SpywareBlaster won't update after installing Avast

Hi all. After installing Avast, my SpywareBlaster will not update.

The updates seem to come in little packets rather than one whole.

The first, small update, ‘sbversion4.txt’ seems to come in OK, it says '536b of 536 bytes copied.

It then moves on to the next, ‘RS1-1008.dtb’ Nothing happens, then after roughly 30 seconds, it displays an error message, code ‘U005’.

A quick google search seems to reveal it is something to do with Avast, and someone from Javacool recommended updating with Avast turned off. It seems to have worked for some with the problem, but not for me.

I have tried an uninstall/reinstall with their latest version, and it now shows my database loaded 25/02/2009

My PC has never been cleaner!, so I don’t think it’s that

Any suggestions???

Thank You, Mugsy.

Welcome MugsMoney

What is your operating system and Service Pack level?

I advice you to have one antivirus because 2 antiviruse well make trebbile for you because every AV well think other as a thrited because it has some trojan work like access to registary and watch process …etc
maybe you say spyware blaster is not a antivirus but if it watch process or access to registary or have system rights ( you can see this in process in taskmanger next spyware blaster is system ) avast well disable some it 's work
not avast but in fact a lote of AV well do the same
exampel : one tear ago I installed mcafee and panda antivirus and the reason mcafee is disableed and turn from red to black
so I think avast disable other AV
finally why you install tow program I think Avast onely give you protection you want ???

The spywareblaster is most certainly ‘not’ and AV, it isn’t even active but a passive immunisation tool. It is only active during the manual update and once closed there should be no entry in the task manager.

Thank You Yokenny,

It is Windows Xp SP3.

No problems here.
For sure, avast shouldn’t interact or interfere with Spyware Blaster immunization.
