SQL correctly setup?

Hi all,

I’ve not used SQL before, so please bear with my lack of knowledge here.
Once I’ve installed the AMS with the setup_admn.exe, am I required to do anything else on the SQL side of things?
I can’t find much info on it in the Administrator’s Guide, except that it should have most of the configuration sorted already.

I’ve checked the services, and the MSSQL$AVAST service is started and set to automatic.
However, when I open the SQL Server Service Manager, both the Server and Services fields are blank and at the bottom is states “Not Connected - \”
Now I may know next to nothing about SQL, but that doesn’t sound right to me.

Did I do something wrong in the installation, or is there something I was supposed to do afterwards?

Any help to resolve this first of many difficulties would be much appreciated.

Thanks
HL

Ok.
I’ve done some more investigation, and I have now got “ServerName”\avast in the Server field of theSQL Server Service Manager, and the services field gives me 3 options: Distributed Transaction Manager
SQL Server
SQL Server Agent

I’m now running all of them and have them set to run upon startup.
I haven’t seen any mention of this in the Administrator’s Guide so shouldn’t this have been setup during the installation?
Is this all present and correct?

Maybe it would be easier to stay in your original thread before experimenting with SQL…

Frankly, normally you shouldn’t be required to care about any SQL stuff at all.
