SSL Issues After Installing Thunderbird

I am using an email program called THE BAT… I have used it for a while because it allows multiple email accounts within the same program…

But I wanted to try out THUNDERBIRD to see if it would work better for me.

So I installed TB and it appeared that AVAST had some issues with it, SSL wise… So I put it aside for now…

But now my BAT email program is giving me this error when I try to check mail…

!5/14/2010, 10:48:31: FETCH - Server reports error. The response is: -ERR Cannot establish SSL with POP server 74.50.7.40:110, SSL_connect error 336031996

Now, when I turn off the MAIL SHIELD in AVAST, my email works fine…

Here is the SSL settings in AVAST:

I really don’t want to turn off the AVAST Mail Shield.

Anyone help me out here?

Thanx

please browse the forums, this has been answered tens of times already ::slight_smile:
just one thing: there’s a mistake in Avast configuration: change TLS in front of POP3/110 to none. The rest is okay. For the client configuration, again, see other threads.

Hi and thanx for the response.

I read the post about this being addressed many times. I even searched the suggested phrase “ssl send mail” or something… Unfortunately, the ONLY thread that mentioned that was the thread that suggested to search it.

Anyways, I’ll check the SSL configuration and make the appropriate change…

I just don’t understand why it worked fine until I installed THUNDERBIRD…

Thanx again for the reply…

Michale…

NOTE: Changing the POP3 from SSL to NONE did the trick… Thanx
