I’m installing the free AV on some standalone computers that are not connected, and probably never will be, connected to the Internet. How can I download the latest virus detection updates? And, how do I install them (Are they an executable I run or is there something in the program I have to do to import them?

Then what is it you need protection from? How are these computers used

Probably from what may connect to it locally, USB, (the user) etc. If it has accessible USB ports then MCShield http://www.mcshield.net/ would probably be a good option.

Yes, it’s for a rural school environment and the students use USB sticks to save their work.
