I have updated to Avast 4.7.827 finally. However I have to return to a subject I raised a few weeks ago about changes made to locations not scanned in Standard Shield. Should the list now be reduced to just:
?:\PageFile.sys
*.txt
*.log
*.ini
Or should the list also still include:
c:\windows\temp*.tmp
_avast4\unp.tmp
c:\windows\winsxs*.manifest
c:\windows\winsxs*.cat
c:\windows\winsxs*.policy
*\edb.chk
The reason I ask is my update includes the full 10 that were there in .817, whereas a friend has the reduced 4. Both cannot be right. I will delete the ‘extra’ 6 if .827 is meant to not include them in the locations not scanned.
Well the answers you got then should still be valid and perhaps this post should be with that Topic. Those that aren’t listed in the .827 version are catered for in other ways.
Some of the settings are used internally so you won't see them in the list, unless you have customized the list in the past...
One of the things about updating rather than a clean install should carry over any changes you made in say the avast4.ini file in the previous version. So I’m unsure if this is what is happening here.
I’m afraid I do not follow: I felt the previous thread got a tad lost as I believe that was when Avast were trying to get the latest update out (the dreaded .826). I had not customised that list previously (incidentally neither had my friend). So please, should .827 have the 4 or the 10 in the locations not to be scanned? Surely there is an answer, not to ‘pat my head’.
Cheers
Well I have:
?:\pagefile.sys;
*.txt;
*.log;
*ini
plus one other which is added too exclude scanning a folder containing eicar test samples.
