Standard Shield Settings

Hi all,

My old PC is getting little tired after all these years so I’m trying to cut down on all unnecessary stuff taking up resources. I’m aware of that safety comes first but I’m thinking about customizing avast’s standard shield to the minimum or even pausing it totaly. I have a firewall active all the time and I most certainly will leave web shield, network shield and all the other protection in Avast active.

As it is now, everytime I open a program, folder, movie file or whatever avast has to scan it first and to tell you the truth it’s getting a little annoying becouse it’s the same stuff I run on daily basis.

So what are your suggestions? How should I customize avast to increase performance?

Just use Standart providers level, that’s it. :wink:

You can add folders/applications of which you are sure they are safe to the exclusion list.
This way Avast will not scan them.

MY HD has 30 GB stuff, but half of it is my local user files, movies, songs and pictures. So I guess I saved a lot scanning time with that exclusion I just made. Thx Eddy.

Btw, what was that foxhole.jpg picture I was almost to open when logging in to give this reply ???
