Standby during boot time scan - Black Screen!

I was running a start up scan on my laptop and because it takes quite a while, I left the room. When I came back, the laptop was closed, and therefore in standby mode. I opened it, and got nothing but a black screen. I turned it off and on again - still a black screen. It won’t boot, it won’t do anything. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and the free version of avast if that helps. I don’t know how this could possibly be fixed, since I just get a black screen, but I’m asking anyway because I REALLY need that laptop for school. Please tell me there’s still hope
Also, there’s still hard drive activity. There’s just nothing on the monitor.

Press the power button for several seconds. Does the system restart…?

Nope, I can turn it off, but it doesn’t boot. At least not in the first 5 minutes. I’ll try leaving it “on” for a bit longer and see if anything happens at all.

Yay, noch ein Wiener/ ne Wienerin

  1. Remove the battery. Wait a few minutes and reinsert it.
  2. Servus. ;D

Okay, I feel really stupid right now, but I figured it out: There was hard disk activity and an empty screen because the scan actually continued, it just didn’t show anything after waking up from sleep mode.
So, pressing esc canceled the scan and everything returned to normal. I can’t believe that wasn’t the first thing I tried. Thanks anyway, and sorry for being such a noob ^^°

You’re welcome…!
