start avast issue

Hey, new to the forum, unsure of the proper location for my topic, or if I could have looked somewhere else to have found an answer to it. Have looked into the etiquettes used on this forum, forgive me for any mistakes.

I have been using avast for awhile and doing fine, though have come across a potential problem and would like a response as to help. The version is listed as 4.7 home edition. Using XP, browser applications are internet explorer and firefox. Do not believe I use a proxy filter. As for a firewall, I downloaded Comodo though it seems to block everything for me in custom and have not had the time to learn how to edit its features so I have windows firewall turned back on.

The problem I have now with avast is getting the main interface to load, the on access protection control, chest, and log viewer open by themself. When I try opening the main interface instead of starting up with some memory check it doesn’t come up at all but is listed in windows task manager as ashAvast.exe and it lists a CPU at around 50, don’t think that is normal. Is this a bad sign. Let me know if I need to list more about the issue, don’t recall this happening before, just started up. I reset my PC and the same issue continues to persist with avast.

Yeah, this problem was reported here…
It’s a Comodo problem…

Thank you Tech, I had a feeling it could have been Comodo, or something had leaked into my pc and compromised avast well turning off one of those firewalls, new to firewalls. Okay read up on both topics made by you on the matter. Sorry I didnt catch onto your topics title. Again new to these forums, also signed up to Comodo’s forums over the issues I was having with them, guess all my issues stem from their beta. Learned alot reading threads on both forums so something good has come out of this and I would hope this can be worked out atleast once they make it out of beta. From my understanding of products on these matters, avast, ad-aware, and comodo look to be on the forefront of pc protection.

Yeah, welcome to forums… you can learn and you can share knowledge 8)
The last Comodo version (even the beta) has this issues with avast. Hope they could correct this soon.
But, don’t worry, you’re protected by avast and by Comodo. It’s just a problem while trying to open the splash screen.
Run C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimpl.exe (the skinned interface) or C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashSimp2.exe (the skinless interface).
