My computer has been infected by the “Start Savin” adware and I am unable to remove it. My browser is Chrome, the OS is Windows 7.
Start Savin is not listed among my Chrome extensions, nor does it show up under Control Panel as a program that I can uninstall. However every time I start the computer I get a box which says that “a problem was detected with Start Savin which has now been fixed”, etc. And Chrome runs more slowly than it used to.
I’ve been researching this cursed thing and trying different steps which I will list.
I have Avast Internet Security, a paid subscription. I ran a scan including the unwanted-browser-extension element; it did not detect Start Savin.
I found some advice in a forum for deleting from my registry the specific key for Start Savin. Followed those steps, rebooted, no change.
I downloaded and ran TDSSKILLER; it did not detect anything to fix.
I downloaded and ran AdwCleaner; it found and fixed a variety of things including registry keys but upon reboot the Start Savin message reappeared.
What do I try next? How do I get rid of this thrice-cursed thing?
