Start scan

Hello!
I installed avast! 4 Home Edition 2 days ago. I’m very happy 'cos it works perfectly. I think I’ve even been able to use it with emule plus. However, I have a little problem. I’m afraid that when I installed avast! they asked me if I wanted it to pass an scan when I started the laptop, and I said yes, not having an idea that the scan could take HALF AN HOUR everytime I started the pc! So now, I would like to change that configuration in order to do it myself whenever I feel like it. Is that possible?
Thanks a million in advance.
Elena

It is a one off action, it shouldn’t run unless you schedule it again. - If you have XP, vista32bit or Win2k, you could enable a boot time scan. Right click the avast icon, select Start avast! Antivirus, a memory scan will take place followed by the opening of the Simple User Interface, Menu, ‘Schedule boot-time scan…’ Or see http://www.digitalred.com/avast-boot-time.php.

So have you booted since and does it start on subsequent boots ?

Thanks for your help, David. I didn’t expected a so quick answer  Well, I had already tried with the instructions on the web you advised me. But, to be honest, I haven’t let the pc restart 'cos it tooks so much time… When I’ll finish with the pc tonight, I’ll let it do, to see if it works finally :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks again

Like DavidR mentioned before, it runs only when you tell it to so when you restart it won’t come up again unless you scheduled it.

No problem, glad I could help.

Fast is nothing new on the avast forums ;D
