Hello guys,
Have a question about the Statistics section. More specifically, the Component Status tab. So there is an area there where it says ‘scans have been executed’ and there are two bars, one blue and one grey. The blue has a number that goes by 1 every time you do a scan, the other one remains at 9.
My question is: will the number on the blue bar continue growing forever or will it get reset at some point? Since the 9 on the grey bar is referring to ‘average number of scans per month by Avast! user’, I thought the blue bar number would remain still or decrease after a month has passed since it started counting (when Avast! 9.0.2006 was installed). Well, it didn’t remain still and it just keeps growing.
So what’s going to happen to that ‘blue bar number’?
EDIT
Sorry, forgot to add my current Avast! version. It’s 9.0.2008.

If you hover the mouse cursor over the Grey column, you will see why, this is not a local user statistic, but the average number of scans made by avast users per month.
Over time the Blue figure will increase, but I’m not sure these two figures should be together as one is a total user ‘average’ number of scans per month and the other, ‘local user’ scans I don’t believe is a monthly average as mine indicates 8 and there is no way I do 8 scans a month. Though in the early period of a new build I will be testing so may well do more than the one per week as my norm.

Yeah, that I figured about the Grey bar, David.
I am just wondering what will happen to the Blue bar? Will it just continue going up permanently? For various reasons, some might scan more than a week per month … so it might get to big numbers, like hundreds or even thousands in a year or two.

Very little will happen about the blue bar number, ‘monthly averages’ across such a large user-base (all avast users on avast 9 presumably) are unlikely to change substantially or quickly.

The ‘monthly average’ is the Grey bar number, isn’t it? I was referring to the Blue bar, which doesn’t seem to be a ‘monthly average’.
Or maybe I misunderstood you.

My confusion in what you asked, but over my last to posts I had hoped it was clear that:
A. I don’t believe the two figures should be in the same area
B. nor do I think they are the same, an average against the number of user scans done as my figure appears to be total not average scans I have done.
For me it is a bit like comparing apples and oranges, if one figure is an average, then really the other should be an average and there is no way my Blue column is my number average of monthly scans.
Running a scan whilst compiling this topic and others, both my figures are 9, so there is no way the Blue column user scans is an average but a total, see image. So that needs to be made clear or they should be separated by some white space between them. Better still the Blue column should have the same Tool Tip displayed outlining what it is when you hover the mouse pointer over it in the same way as for the Grey column.
