i’ve been trying to figure this out and have been reading many other topics on this. but im still a little confused. i just upgraded to 4.8 home and now that it has a rootkit scanner, does that include the real-time also scanning for rootkits? i also heard in pro you scan specifically scan for rootkits. can you do that in home? and i also heard that only thorough scans scan for rootkits? what about standard?
The rootkit scan occurs on boot, on starting an on-demand scan (sensitivity Standard or Thorough only) and if you schedule a boot-time scan. I don’t believe it is a resident scanner in the same way as the anti-virus.
The option to run a rootkit scan is only available with the Pro, but that doesn’t stop you using any of the above methods which would incorporate a rootkit scan.
There is also a stand alone version of the anti-rootkit but that has yet to be released, at the last estimate that was going to be about three weeks.

I created a shortcut to ashQuick.exe
with
“C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashQuick.exe” “SUPERQUICK”
in the target window.
